Teaching thinking - for life long learning.

Craft and Design

Students created a woven structure that had to
  • be suspended 12 inches in the air
  • hold 150 pennies
They used basket weaving reeds and  yarns with their inate flexibility with no need for glues, tacks, staples, wire or tape.
The results were varied.  Students took risks and solved many problems along the way.
This project used the skills learned in weaving egg baskets, wall baskets, and hen baskets.

Arts Major Classes

Students enroll in a variety of general Arts major classes from Art I through Art III.  It is critical to work in both two and three dimensions as we prepare studentes for life in a 3-D design world.  Using live models and 'real' objects is an important component in learning to 'see' in order to design and create.

Developing skills with many materials provides students the groundwork to express and create unique and meaningful artwork.

SCULPTURE Classes

Students work in a variety of media to create three dimensional forms - relief and in-the-round - viewing major artists and exploring ways of communicating ideas. Chair designs explored in a variety of materials exploring natural material attachment methods.
